Description

You play as the Bardbarian named Chïtara who has to save her fellow band members from the hooligan orcs of the orchestra. With your axe, doubling as a guitar, in hand you set off on a journey through the castle of the orcs. You have to slash your way through hordes of enemies, and use your powerful guitar playing, to save your best friends in the heart of the castle.

My contributions

Project Management

This project was very different fromt our last, since the size of the team greatly increased. We quickly realized that someone would have to take responsibility for the group communication, and making sure the project ran smoothly. Arranging meetings, acting as a middle hand between disciplines, being the contact person for our audio help and being an overall spider in the net were some of my biggest tasks.

I also worked a lot with making sure the documentation was consistent, readable and understandable by everyone involved in the project.

A big part was also making sure that the work ran smoothly, and that problems were solved quickly and in the best way possible. Both issues with the work itself, and personal ones. Being on a tight schedule can easily create problems.

Design Support

Since I had a very busy schedule working with other things, I had no specific area within design that I worked with on my own. I was there during our general meetings, and often more specific meetings, as a support to bounce ideas with. I helped with evolving ideas, reworking ideas and documenting ideas. For a more in-depth look at specifics, I refer to my project blog.

Planning

As the person with the best overall view of the project  I handled the planning. I was responsible for all tasks being done and planned for. This is a big challenge, as it is hard to tell how long things will take, especially within the other disciplines. In the end I sat down together with the other leads of the project to go through time, specific tasks and to explain how they could best help to keep the basic time plan intact. After that I made up a rough plan for the whole project, and split it up into Sprints, or weekly tasks, that were adjusted week by week, depending on how we were doing at the time.

There are some less fun parts of planning, which involve deciding when things need to be cut for time. The original plan was good enough and accounted for enough time for eventual mistakes that not much of the original plan needed to be cut, but it also involves shutting down new ideas that might be good, but come too far into the project, or would take too much time.
