Better and worse is the name of the game. The overall communication is getting better within the group, which feels great, but there was also a massive miss in communication between the artists and me.
Tuesday afternoon I talked to an artist who during casual conversation told me that the approach we’d decided on during the Friday meeting had been changed to a different approach, requiring a completely different planning. They had changed this during the Monday morning meeting, and failed to tell me about it. It’s very hard to plan things, and make sure others follow the plan, if I don’t get word about things changing. I will bring it up at tomorrow's morning meeting and I hope it gets better. It’s a problem that needs solving, but hopefully a reminder will be enough to keep it from happening again.
I’ve spent the days mostly planning for next week, and even the week after that, based on the new approach. It will still work, but it’ll be tighter. The good thing about the new approach is that there is less risk of things going wrong later on in the process, and I’m glad we’re taking a less risky approach.
The SFX documents are coming along as well, we’ve at least gotten a foundation up. We’ll keep working on it during the week as well, and hopefully we can actually get a hold of the sound people soon.
I have also started working on the alpha presentation and preparations for it with Danny, organizing what we want in the build we show with the programmers, starting the powerpoint etc. It’s coming along nicely so far.
